During the span of her work in construction, Jessica Gerlach progressed from pouring cement to heading safety initiatives at Minneapolis-area contractor McGough.<\/p>\n

When she first started her career as a cement mason, Jessica Gerlach was drawn to the physical aspect of the work and the satisfaction of seeing a project come together from start to finish.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s something incredibly fulfilling about the transformation that occurs when you take raw materials and turn them into something functional,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

As she honed her skills in the field, she also realized that construction offered not only a livelihood but also a sense of pride in her craft and the opportunity to leave a lasting impact.<\/p>\n

Now, as vice president of safety at McGough Construction, she oversees all aspects of safety management and compliance for the Minneapolis-area contractor. From developing comprehensive safety programs to leading a team of safety professionals, she is tasked with ensuring that every member of the team feels empowered to do the right thing regarding safety.<\/p>\n
